SERIOUSLY SUMMING IT UP

³³ “Simply put, if you’re not willing to take what is dearest to you, whether plans or people, and kiss it good-bye, you can’t be my disciple. ³⁴ “Salt is excellent. But if the salt goes flat, it’s useless, good for nothing. “Are you listening to this? Really (SERIOUSLY) listening?”  LUKE 14:33-35

This whole week has been about SERIOUS COMMITMENT (Forsaking All (I Trust Him) and the reality is for each of us, each day we have to make a decision:  WHO ARE WE DOING THIS FOR?  THIS could be a multitude of things.  It could be your husband, wife, kids, your bosses, your pastor, yourself......but the prayer I have for each of you...is that you are doing it for Jesus Christ!   

The truth is your boss may never be pleased with you.  Your spouse may continue to overlook your every effort.   Your kids....they are kids aren't they......they may take your for granted until you breath your last breath (I really hope not) ............ But GOD is not a performance based GOD, He is effort & heart based.  He wants to know you seek to please Him, to Glorify Him in your relationship with others. 

Salt is a preserver, a flavor enhancer and even an antiseptic.....are you any of those things in the many circles you run in?  Do you preserve relationships with being kind, loving, and understanding that people are people and they will make mistakes, hurt your feelings, and even disappoint you?  Does your very presence at work, church, community, and in the home ENHANCE the overall atmosphere simply because of the Christ in you...or do you keep your head down, and drive into your garage never interacting with others?  Are you able to clean out a wound a hurt by eradicating the bacteria of gossip and filthy talk by helping guide the conversation towards healing?  

If you don't do any of these things......are you REALLY GOOD FOR NOTHING?  SERIOUSLY?!!?!?  If you are reading this.......that means GOD sees you, saw you as GOOD FOR SOMETHING so much so you have been gifted today......so BEING HIS DISCIPLE MEANS you have to SERIOUSLY make the FIRST thing FIRST.....serving Him!
