18 Once a religious leader asked Jesus this question: “Good Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?” 19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked him. “Only God is truly good. 20 But to answer your question, you know the commandments...." Luke 18:18-20a
You know we spend lots of time searching for things. We search (as seen in this picture) on the internet for everything from directions, to job openings, things we want or need, for husband/wives...I mean there is almost literally nothing we can't search and find on the internet. Some of you search the newspaper. Others search for a good neighborhood, great schools for their kid, a healthy & inspiring church.........I mean we are always seeming to be looking & searching for something.
This religious leader was searching for what he needed to do in order to inherit eternal life, and Jesus begin answering his question with a question.....(see Jesus really does do things we do) " Why do you call me good?" Then He does what we do too...as parents.....He answers by pointing, or setting the guys gaze straightaways to GOD saying only GOD is good, and BTW.....the answer to your question begins with the Commandments.
Are you trying to .....NO ARE YOU REALLY TRYING TO INSURE YOUR ETERNITY TO BE SPENT WITH GOD? If so JESUS begins with reminding you KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS. They're not rules but rather guidelines to living a life that matters. Spend some time today actually reviewing all 10 of them (Exodus 20:1-17) and then let me help you make accomplishing all 10 of them on a regular basis if you are really seeking to do good ( Should we offer him thousands of rams and ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Should we sacrifice our firstborn children to pay for our sins?
